Say It Ain't So...

Anyone who has been around long enough has seen the dramatic progression of complexity and skill required to repair newer vehicles. One of my first cars was a 1966 Mustang, with an engine, radiator, battery, starter and alternator (and lots of open space) under the hood. Many of the later vehicles have actual shields under the hood to keep people from messing with the tremendously technologically advanced systems. You almost need to be a computer engineer AND an aerospace engineer to know what is going on under there. Now, automakers are actually bringing in their teams of Lawyers to begin to ban people from working on their cars through copyright laws. Read this article from Autoblog and see what you think... are car mechanics soon to go the way of draftsmen film processors?
